Easy Arayes (Middle Eastern Stuffed Pita)

Description

This flavorful Arayes comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef (500g)
  • 5 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1/2 onion, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup parsley, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon seven spice
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for the meat)
  • 23 tablespoons olive oil (for the pitas)
  • 4 round pitas (smaller 4 inch pitas)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Finely chop the onions, garlic, and parsley.
  3. Mix the ground beef with the onion, garlic, parsley, spices, pomegranate molasses, and olive oil in a large bowl.
  4. Carefully cut the pitas in half and open them to form pockets.
  5. Stuff each pita with about 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture.
  6. Brush the outside of the stuffed pitas with olive oil on all sides.
  7. Place the stuffed pitas directly on a hot grill or arrange on a baking sheet for the oven.
  8. Grill for 2-3 minutes per side or Bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy.

Notes

These can be made ahead of time and reheated. Perfect for meal prep!
