This easy Baked Ziti comes together in about 40 minutes and is a quick, comforting dish that your family will love!


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  3. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  4. Add the ground beef or sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, bringing to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta, meat sauce, ricotta, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a large bowl.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve.

Notes

This dish can be customized with various meats and cheeses. It keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
