Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (pink, purple, or any desired color)
  • Buttercream frosting
  • 1 Barbie doll (cleaned)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. If using eggs, add them along with the vanilla and mix well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter into bowls and add food coloring, mixing until blended.
  8. Pour the colored batter into the prepared pans in alternating layers.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the layers cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  11. Spread buttercream frosting between layers and shape around the Barbie doll.
  12. Decorate as desired and carefully place the Barbie doll in the center.
  13. Frost the outside to create a cake dress, slice, and serve.
