Description

A delicious and zesty treat made with fresh oranges, sugar, and vanilla, perfect for snacking or garnishing desserts.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium fresh oranges
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water.
  2. Slice off both ends of each orange and cut them into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Carefully add the orange slices to the syrup, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once done, use tongs to remove each orange slice from the syrup and place them on a wire rack or parchment paper to cool completely.

Notes

Optional: Add spices like cinnamon or cloves for extra flavor. These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
