- 4 medium fresh oranges
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water.
- Slice off both ends of each orange and cut them into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Carefully add the orange slices to the syrup, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Once done, use tongs to remove each orange slice from the syrup and place them on a wire rack or parchment paper to cool completely.
Notes
Optional: Add spices like cinnamon or cloves for extra flavor. These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
