- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Make the dough: Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl, create a well, and add olive oil and yeast mixture, kneading until smooth.
- Let it rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during the rising time.
- Shape your pastries: Punch down the dough, divide into small balls, and roll into circles.
- Mix the cheese filling: Stir cheeses with black pepper and oregano in a separate bowl.
- Assemble your pastries: Place cheese mixture on one half of the dough circle, fold, and seal edges.
- Prepare for baking: Arrange on a baking sheet and brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake: Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Let cool slightly before serving.
