Description

A hearty and creamy ground beef stroganoff that comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, adjust to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a heavy, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it warm for a minute.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add diced onion and minced garlic, stirring until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Sprinkle in flour and stir until fully incorporated, ensuring no lumps form.
  6. Slowly pour in beef broth, deglazing the pan, then add heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper and bring to a simmer; let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  8. Serve over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
