Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp butter extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar (for glaze)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) water (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Incorporate the vanilla and optional butter extract.
  5. Mix in the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  6. Form uniform cookie balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden around the edges.
  8. Let them rest on the trays before transferring to cooling racks.
  9. Melt ½ cup of butter in a saucepan, then add sugar and water, stirring until smooth.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract for the glaze.
  11. Brush or drizzle the glaze over warm cookies.
  12. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
