Description

A delightful and simple Matcha Cake that comes together in about 30 minutes, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup matcha green tea powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup butter, softened (for optional frosting)
  • Powdered sugar (to taste, for optional frosting)
  • Milk or cream (to taste, for optional frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and cool in the pans for 15-20 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. If using frosting, beat butter with powdered sugar and a splash of milk or cream until smooth.
  10. Once cooled, assemble the cake by layering the cakes with frosting, and frosting the top and sides if desired.
  11. Optional: Dust with additional matcha powder or powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

This cake is customizable; swap matcha for cocoa powder or different tea blends to suit your taste.
