- 2 small sweet onions
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel the sweet onions and trim the tops. Cut each onion into quarters, leaving the root intact.
- In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg and milk until combined.
- Coat onion pieces in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and return to the flour mixture for double coating.
- Place the onions in the air fryer basket, ensuring they’re not touching.
- Lightly spray with cooking spray and cook for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
These blooming onions can be customized with different spices to fit your taste. They are best served fresh, but can be reheated in the air fryer.
