Ingredients

  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil or Butter
  • 12 Cloves Garlic (optional)
  • Fresh Herbs (like Thyme or Rosemary, optional)

Instructions

  1. Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes then add olive oil or butter.
  4. Add the steak to the pan and sear for 3-5 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms.
  5. Flip the steak and cook for another 3-5 minutes for medium-rare, adding garlic and herbs if desired.
  6. Check doneness with a meat thermometer (130°F for medium-rare).
  7. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
