- 3–4 pounds beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Trim and dry the brisket, patting it dry with paper towels.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the brisket on all sides for 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet.
- Sauté onions in the same skillet for about 5 minutes until softened, then add garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- In a bowl, mix beef broth, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Place the brisket in a slow cooker, cover it with sautéed onions and garlic, and pour the sauce on top.
- Cook on low for 8 hours until the brisket shreds easily with a fork.
- Let the brisket rest for 30 minutes, then shred with two forks.
- Serve on a platter and drizzle with extra sauce.
